IMAT employees are subject to a 24-hour on call work schedules in the event of an emergency and be willing to be relocated to emergency sites with little notice. The teams deploy as soon as notified to respond and are on the scene within 12 hours. Once on scene, the teams operate and function under intense physical and mental stress until the response mission is accomplished. This service will require irregular and/or long working hours which may be under austere environments that include living and working in temporary facilities such as tents, warehouse, or other expediently established facilities, significant damage to critical infrastructure that prevents ready access to potable water (other than for drinking), other than basic medical care, and other routinely available services. Work may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description and may involve some physical exertion including activities such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; carrying and lifting of moderately heavy items (up to 50 pounds). In this position, you will serve as a Field Support Unit Leader (FSUL) to provide strategic guidance/advice on deployment issues and courses of action to meet the emerging needs of a disaster. When deployed, the Field Support Unit Lead serves as a key advisor to the Command Staff on personnel resource requirements, mobilization procedures, organizational structure, and right-sizing of operations. Typical responsibilities include:
Overseeing all unit operations, to include FEMA Corps Liaisons and Surge Capacity Force Specialists. Utilizing the Deployment Tracking System (DTS), to ensure the proper execution of all deployments to and from disaster events to include:
Informing leadership of critical resource shortfalls and maintains awareness of all staffing actions and providing strategic guidance/advice on deployment issues and courses of action to meet staffing requirements. Coordinating projects for all FEMA Corps Teams with specific program areas and providing support to FEMA Corps members as the primary point of contact for managing issues pertaining to member conduct, health, and well-being. Performs similar function for all Surge Capacity Force members when activated. Providing on-site guidance on the FEMA Qualification System and supporting the Disaster Field Training Office on delivery of necessary training. Conducts reach back to cadre management staff as needed. When not deployed, typical responsibilities include:
Participating in exercises at the national, regional and state level and all required training with states, territories and other federal agencies. Assisting in the development of plans, goals, and objectives for new initiatives and programs. Evaluating and provides recommendations for improving effectiveness of existing programs and activities. The qualification requirements listed below must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. You qualify for this position at the IT-02 level (starting salary $36.26) if you possess the following:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IT-01) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of the following specialized
Experience:
Leading employees within an Incident Command Structure (ICS); Analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, or identify solutions; and, Analyzing staffing requirements and developing a plan to maximize resources. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related OR Combination of education and experience Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
