Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.In this position, you will act as an Administrative Assistant and Secretary to the Division management. Tracking supplies and tasks; proofreading, routing, and following-up on correspondence; serving in Regional Response Coordination Center; updating phone lists and other documents; utilizing Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other software. Typical assignments include:
Providing advice, information, and assistance on the interpretation of instructions and regulations on records management. Verifying time and attendance (T&A) is correctly entered into time system in a timely manner. Advising staff on T&A rules, regulations and procedures and answers employee questions related to the T&A system. Assisting employees with the processing of Travel Authorizations and vouchers. Providing general administrative support to Division staff in mail, correspondence, phones. Processing incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memorandum, and other forms of written communication. Greeting staff and other visitors to the Administrative Services Branch, and provides assistance as appropriate based on the nature of the visit. Promotion Potential:
Positions filled under Stafford Act regulations generally do not have documented promotion potential; however, dependent on an employee's ability to perform higher level duties, the continuing need for an employee to perform work associated with a higher level position, and administrative recommendation and approval, promotions may be earned by CORE employees. The qualification requirements listed below must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. You qualify for this position at the IC-7 level (starting salary $47,380) if you possess the following:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-5) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Assisting management with administrative functions; such as, preparing and supporting reports; Monitoring and tracking multiple tasks and deadlines; and Proofreading and editing written correspondences. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Your application must show that you meet all requirements for this position. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
