Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions. In this position, you will perform emergency management work including managing, coordinating, and implementing Federal emergency planning and preparedness activities, including:
identifying and assessing risk, estimating the level of capabilities needed to address those risks, building or sustaining the required levels of capability, implementing plans to deliver those capabilities, validating and monitoring progress, and reviewing and updating efforts to promote continuous preparedness improvement. Typical assignments include:
Serving as a program manager associated with disaster preparedness of state, local and tribal jurisdictions in response to natural/human-caused/technological incidents. Managing Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment program and analyzing state/local/tribal Stakeholder Preparedness Review results. Ensuring that Regional preparedness program activities are executed in accordance with the National Preparedness System and the National Planning Frameworks. Analyzing, reviewing, and implementing activities supporting the overall Regional preparedness mission and supports the development of annual and multi-year regional preparedness strategies and plans. Focusing on a variety of complex assignments related to coordinating Regional core capabilities enhancement and closing functional area gaps across all National Preparedness Goal mission areas. Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval. The qualification requirements listed below must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. You qualify for this position at the GS-12 level (starting salary $84,045) if you possess the following:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience in identifying and analyzing threats and hazards risk assessment and preparedness reports, as part of a team, in collaboration with whole community including Federal, state, local, or tribal offices of emergency management, in the implementation of the National Preparedness System. You qualify for this position at the GS-13 level (starting salary $99,941) if you possess the following:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience in identifying, researching, analyzing, and publishing threats and hazards risk assessment and preparedness reports in collaboration with whole community critical stakeholders including Federal, state, local, or tribal offices of emergency management, in the implementation of the National Preparedness System, AND Experience conducting and facilitating briefings and preparing clear, concise written analysis for senior leaders at the federal, state, local and tribal levels. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.NOTE:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
